Recently, I released a stop-motion animation video. Its intent was to bring to life my professional mission and is titled Empower: A How-to Guide. It started in the backyard before the sun began overheating the iPad and the poor timing of the sprinklers chased me indoors.
To prepare, I went through some old supplies and kid craft bins and gathered string art, Colorforms, playdough, letters, pastels, an apple, Legos, photos, the tree I painted in last week's watercolor class and other random items that I thought may come in handy.
In the past, I have led students in many stop-motion creations and have even woven it into the professional learning for educators. It's a great way activity that will pull together a team in forming a shared understanding of a mission and a vision.
I joked that it only took me about 6 hours to produce the one minute. While it is not exactly a masterpiece, it did the job of conveying what I was trying to say to someone on the other end of the virtual connection. It was also quite enjoyable to make.
