art journaling

I enrolled in two art courses (so far) this summer. One of them is art journaling. The courses are taught at pARTiculars, a small art gallery and teaching studio in Lafayette, Colorado. Check it out if you are ever in the neighborhood.

For the art journaling course, I enrolled myself, children and sister, bought the journals and couldn't wait to get started so I made my first entry before the class began.

Then, when we attended the class, the instructor had so many treasures to choose from to tear up, cut up, paint with, write with, draw with, etc., to make the art journal entries. Here were my first attempts. I started to appreciate the layering of different media and materials and the low pressure of playing, practicing, layering, and creating.

I'll be doing this more for sure.
