TALENTS AND GIFTS

I led the design work in Adams 14 of the Talents and Gifts Framework based on the Exceptional Children's Education Act areas of identification (originally found in the Marlan Report).  We also crafted e-portfolios that will provide visible and audible evidence of learning for students to use provide evidence of their strengths in a job interview or on a college application upon graduation.

STRENGTHS-BASED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES

The purpose of this professional development series is to serve as a model for transforming professional development in schools. The transformation will be from planning professional development based on needs to planning professional development based on strengths.  The series is blended with face-to-face professional development, independent reflection and flipped lessons.  Every bit of the planning is a model of engaging collaborative strategies, technology integration and reflection activities that teachers can then turn around and use with their students in the classroom.   The series is under construction, and the plans are available on this website.

TED-Ed Innovation Project

There is a prevalent problem in gifted education with identification of all populations.  Emerging bilingual students, students of color, special education students and students living in poverty are all underrepresented in gifted identification.  A talent pool is an effort to service and identify more students from underrepresented populations.   Read more about the project on TED-Ed's Blog and the blog Gifted and Talented Pathways.

SensAble Learning, LLC

This was my former small business inspired by my work with Brenda Erickson, Montessorian and developer of Souns for Literacy.  Although this business is now closed, I learned an immense amount about myself as a learner and edupreneur during this journey.  The blog, SensAble Learning, that I kept during this time is still available to access.
